The term is called ‘hoovering’. The narcissist will ‘check im to see how you're doing and what you're up to. Whether they need some more ego boosting from you (if you let them again like i did so many times). Or maybe the narcissist wants to abuse you a bit more by saying nasty things because you've moved on from them and found someone better. Or perhaps they want to gloat because they have found their nect supply and are trying to make you jealous.
